The Kiwanis Club of Renton was chartered September 5, 1929 and currently has 34 members from Renton and surrounding communities. Membership is open to all adults who have a desire to give back to their community! On April 26th, 1963, the club sponsored the charter of another Kiwanis Club: The Kiwanis Club of Greater Renton. The two clubs continued to successfully work together on projects within the Renton community for over 45 years.
One of their major accomplishments was the sponsoring of Key Clubs for our local high schools. May 22nd, 1972, was the initiation of the Key Clubs for both Renton High School and Hazen High School. Once Lindbergh High School was formed in Renton, a Key Club was chartered and sponsored right away. We are very proud of our three Key Clubs. They have provided countless hours of service to our local community, received many accolades, an produced tons of young leaders.
In 2010, the two clubs merged to form a stronger, more cohesive club and we've been growing, serving our community, and enjoying our time together ever since!
Our club has a rich history of service to the Renton community. In 1973, we brought the Air Fair to Renton and offered exhibits, plane rides and goodies! In 1984, we began the Kid's fishing Derby at Coulon Park. Our service to Coulon Park has not been limited to the Fishing Derby though, in 1985 we added signs for the Interpretive Walk plant species identification system. We've delivered mother's day flowers to seniors and continue to host a Christmas Party for kids to this day!
Around town, the work of our Kiwanis club is visible!
Kiwanis Park is located on Union Ave in Renton across from Honeydew school.
